I'm not sure really what to make of it because I don't frequent America or even Inland North America so not sure what to feel. If you're from America can you fill me in?

I get people asking me if I was born in Australia! I didn't think my accent was that bad!
From your cousin in Tassie
Well, here is my answer:
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
I live in California so don't get why I have a midland accent!
I think there are really only three main accents in the US but each of them have localized versions.
I think I'll just do a post on it.
